Field Engineer

URE is actively seeking a skilled and accomplished Field Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate must possess substantial experience in commissioning utility-scale solar projects. We are looking for a seasoned professional with a profound understanding of electrical engineering principles, particularly in the context of utility scale solar installations. In this pivotal role, the chosen candidate will be instrumental in guaranteeing the effective operation and performance of solar projects, thereby making significant contributions to the advancement of renewable energy endeavors.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Conduct advanced inverter commissioning, operation, communications, and troubleshooting for utility-scale solar projects.
• Perform advanced racking and tracker commissioning, operation, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance of solar arrays.
• Configure, operate, and troubleshoot advanced Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and communication systems, including programming as necessary.
• Demonstrate expertise in MV Transformers and other Renewable Energy Balance of System (BOS) components, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.
• Review and interpret construction, structural, electrical single-line, and three-line drawings for markups and red-lines, and address Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.
• Utilize knowledge of SEL relays to optimize protection and control systems for solar installations.
• Possess a strong understanding of Utility and Interconnection (Substation and Point of Interconnection) equipment and protocols.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate SCADA systems and ensure seamless communication and control across the solar project.
• Maintain compliance with safety standards, including NFPA 70e and OSHA 30, throughout project execution.
• Provide technical support and guidance to on-site personnel during commissioning and operation phases of solar projects.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in commissioning utility-scale solar projects.
• Proficiency in advanced inverter commissioning, operation, communications, and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of racking and tracker commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Expertise in DAS systems, communication systems, operations, and programming.
• Comprehensive knowledge of MV Transformers and Renewable Energy BOS components.
• Experience with construction drawings markups, red-lines, and RFIs.
• Familiarity with SEL relays and protection/control systems.
• Understanding of Utility and Interconnection equipment and protocols.
• High Voltage Certification and Low Voltage Certification.
• Demonstrated experience with SCADA systems and communication protocols.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen & criminal background check.

Location:
• Field Engineer will spend time at URE’s main office in Alpharetta, GA and satellite location in Asheville, NC.
• Position requires +75% Travel to various project locations.
• Preference is given to candidates in the Southeast region.
