For over 20 years, TelExpress, Inc. has been a leader in selling, distributing and networking new, surplus and used telecom equipment. The company continues to be an industry leader and recently completed construction on two photovoltaic solar energy systems at their Archdale, NC facility. Combined electric power generated is 80 kilowatts (kW). The rooftop installations are comprised of 340 solar panels which will utilize 6,792 square feet of otherwise unused roof space. On one building, solar panels are mounted to the flat TPO membrane roof using a non-penetrating ballast mount system. At the corporate headquarters, panels are mechanically attached to the pitched corrugated metal roof. These installations will cover 95% and 48% of the power used by each building respectively. During the 25 year life of the installations, 1,966 tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be saved, significantly reducing the company's carbon footprint. The project was engineered, procured, and constructed by commercial solar contractor United Renewable Energy, LLC.
"United Renewable did an excellent job installing our 80 kW solar system," said Stan Clinard, TelExpress President. "They had a deadline of Dec. 31st which was a challenge. They outlined the agenda and performed perfectly to achieve full turn up prior to the deadline. They were well organized and the process was much easier than we expected."
TelExpress is focused on ways to stay competitive and manage their operating costs which lead to the installations. William Silva, President of United Renewable Energy, commented, "We are extremely proud of our role in helping TelExpress demonstrate their commitment to clean, renewable energy while reducing their operating costs. This project is a great example of how solar is good for the bottom line."
